A.H. MacMillian
Main Showroom

Certainly one of the finest craftsmen ever to inhabit the shores of New Scotland, it was to A. H. MacMillan that the province turned to create a companion Royal Chair in the Red Chamber of Nova Scotia’s Province House for the Royal visit of His Majesty King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother in 1939. Upon completion, it was written that “this [chair] was constructed and carved in twenty-seven days by Mr. Alexander Herman MacMillan of Halifax from choice Honduras mahogany, using over fifty tools. Experts at that time said that his work on the royal chair could not be surpassed anywhere in the world” (MacLaren, George, Antique Furniture By Nova Scotia Craftsmen. Toronto, The Ryerson Press, 1961).

Whether through influence or blood, we, his descendants, retain his love for quality, beauty, and enduring value.  It is our mission, hope, and pleasure to share items that are an investment, not simply a purchase, with you, our clients.

A. H. MacMillan & Family, Antiques and Fine Furniture operates from a large premises set on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia, in what was formerly Camp Brunswick.  A fine selection of antique and reproduction furniture, china, silver, carpets, artwork, and much more awaits you, a mere 25 minutes from the MacDonald and MacKay Bridges.
